Original Creation

Tree in pastelled sky

Voy Kay 31 Jan 2020

WAW, I'm a little stunned here by a number that I would have considered impossible less then two months ago when I started with oil painting. That number is ... 50! (My tally shows 51 but 'Golden rays of sunshine' has been uploaded twice, in B/W and in colour). My goodness, 50 paintings already and that in just over 50 days?? Incredible but hey, what a joy this journey through 'Bob Ross's creational country' has been. One can say: "Up to 100 now Voy! but to be honest, very soon I will have to stop painting since sawing and planting season starts here at my place and I will need time and energy for that. No worries, here and there I will still try to paint and post things still. Even quite some own creations since I have lots of ideas still, worth to be put on canvas!

This is my sixth African painting where I really wanted to blend a different colouring for the sunset! The canvas used was a 16x20" with some bushes and grasses at the bottom prepared and created with black gesso. The technique for creating that is explained in one of my articles. I used liquid clear after drying and used transparent colors for painting over the black gesso. The sky was also prepared with black gesso and I put some phtalo green and a little phtalo blue over it. With some T-white and a fan brush, I managed to form that beautiful turqoise sky.
Nothing was realy easy with this painting. I decided on a big tree yet with few branches. Also the leaves were not black, as usual with my sunsets/sunrises, yet have a grey shade over them (the moon is out!!) to get some contrast. Hope you can enjoy this, for me this was 75 minutes of real fun!!
